Pastor Clarence Newman and his wife, June, are celebrating their 20th year of service at First Baptist Church, Chetopa, Kan.
They are the longest-tenured pastor and wife in the church’s history. The church celebrated its 150th anniversary Sunday, April 28, 2019.
First Baptist Church is active in the Chetopa community. Church members participate in the annual Southeast Kansas winter mission trip to the Beautiful Feet homeless mission in inner-city Fort Worth, Texas. Plus, the church serves in Arriagas, Mexico, with Southeast Kansas Baptist Association and in Haiti through Haiti Health Ministries.
KNCSB Executive Director Bob Mills said, “Clarence, you have done an excellent job of serving your church these 20 years. I deeply appreciate your service and your friendship. Both you and June have been faithful servants of Christ Jesus and have touched countless numbers of people for Jesus.”
