Serving the Lord “As We Go” is the motto of Kansas-Nebraska Campers on Mission.

Several Campers on Mission couples are serving this winter at Texas Baptist Encampment, Palacios, Texas, on the Gulf Coast.

2017 was a very busy year for Kansas-Nebraska COM as members worked at camps and churches and in disaster relief on the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Harvey. COM members reported 5,753 hours of volunteer work in 2017.

The group held a two-week work project in May 2017 at Weir Baptist Camp, 12 miles southwest of Pittsburg, Kan.

They returned to the camp in September for the fall rally followed by another work project.

COM members spent much time working on the new house for Delbert Callaway and his wife, Diane. Delbert retired on Dec. 31 as manager of Weir Baptist Camp.

They also worked 700 hours at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan.

Summer 2017 found COM members working at Alpha Christian Children’s Home, Perry, Kan., where they have served annually for more than 20 years. They worked on a new home for a staff couple to replace the one that was destroyed in a fire caused by a lightning strike.

In other activity, Kansas-Nebraska Campers on Mission will host the 2019 National COM rally June 5-7 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, Hutchinson, Kan. The group has been working hard on plans for the event for more than a year.

Upcoming Kansas-Nebraska COM events are:

April 27-29, 2018—Spring rally at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan., with a work week to follow.

June 18-21, 2018—Campers on Mission National Rally, Georgia State Fairgrounds, Perry, Ga.
