More than 100 people from churches all over Flint Hills Baptist Association descended on Eskridge, Kan., Saturday, June 25, for the association’s annual Serve Day.

Eskridge, population 511, is about 30 miles west of Topeka on Kansas Highway 4.

The event was a partnership with New Life Ministries Eskridge pastored by Barry Pemberton. The Eskridge church is a campus of New Life Ministries, Wamego, Kan., pastored by Rick Hernandez.

New Life Eskridge is the only church in town. The other churches have closed their doors.

The volunteers mowed lawns, trimmed trees, cleaned gutters, and did painting for homes and businesses in Eskridge. They also worked at New Life’s building which was constructed in 1911.

Serve Day was capped with a block party in the city park.
